What a wonderful Christmas we had this year! Very exciting being out in the mix of things over the holidays in a new place. Here in Germany there are these wonderful Christmas Markets. They are located in different areas all over the city/country. They sell different Christmas items, have rides for the kids and of course have terrific food. It's a real tradition here in Germany. People will gather at these markets for hours of eating, drinking and visiting with old friends. Some places will also do little entertainment shows for all different ages. Just a whole lot of fun that can be enjoyed by all.

Grammy came to visit us and we were in heaven to have a familiar, loving face from home. She was able to visit the girls schools and even go along with us to visit Santa at the Ambassadors house. We had a great time having breakfast there with other Embassy families. One of our favorite highlights of the Christmas season was the Christmas play at church. All the children were able to participate from Brooke's age on up. They sang songs and told the beautiful story of the birth of Christ. My Paige was one of the Angels telling the Good News of Christ's birth to the Shepherds. I was so proud of her. She was able to recite 9 or so verses perfectly, speaking clearly the entire time! Okay--what do you expect? I'm a proud Mom! Claudia and Brooke were just as adorable, singing their little hearts out!

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas Morning with our girls followed by a lovely dinner at our friends home. We followed that day with two more days of celebrations here with friends and co-workers. Of course we really missed our families, so we are anxious for more visitors to come! Hope everyone else enjoyed their holiday season. And even though we enjoyed ourselves here, know that we all still miss and love our friends in the US. Happy New Year!

We had a delightful fall and a very Happy first Halloween here in Germany. It started with a trip for Claudia's class out to a working farm/pumpkin patch. I was able to accompany her as a Chaperone. It was a fun but exhausting day for the kids. The main reason for attending this particular one was because every year the farm puts together a big theme and builds it all out of pumpkins. This year it was Noah's Ark. It was amazing not only that they were able to construct all these animals out of pumpkins and gords, but the variation in color of the pumpkins! I thought they had been painted until I saw the crates full of them.

The Ark itself was breathtaking! It really allowed one to imagine the real one that Noah built and gave the children something to not only see but touch and therefore identify better with the Bible Story. Many questions came out of this trip...I love the mind of a child! :) The kids had the opportunity to see and pet several different animals, play on a playground, bounce on the giant bubble, etc...I could go on, but I won't. It was so much fun I wanted to make sure to take Paige there as well--so last Tuesday we loaded up with one of my girlfriends and her two girls and headed back to the farm. The kids were on fall break so were were able to take our time, but with the time change it got dark fast! So our evening ended a little earlier than we anticipated, but was still able to see what we had intended and enjoyed sharing the time with friends.

Then it was time to get ready for Halloween. Paige's school hosted a "Spooky Disco" the Wednesday before the break. She dressed as a witch for the dance, but then opted to change her mind for Trick or Treat. The teachers did a fabulous job with the kids for the disco--they had a BALL!!

For the actual Trick or Treat night, Claudia decided she wanted to wear Paige's witch costume, Paige went with the Black Cat idea, and Brooke lucked into Grammy sending her an adorable witch costume as well. Perfect for her, since she is going through the stage where she wants to be just like Paige or Claudia. Cute yes, but sometimes causes her mommy the trouble of having to be creative on a daily basis. We wouldn't want to upset her or "break her spirit" as Grammy would put it! :)

On Halloween night, we were pleasantly surprised at the number of Trick or Treaters out in our neighborhood! It was adorable when they would come to the door and say "Susses odor Saures" literally sweets or sours--but of course we would be saying "Trick or Treat". So after doing a little trick or treating around here, we met up with 2 other families from Craig's office in the "American neighborhood" and went up and down that street seeing lots of familiar people, collecting candy and sharing some with them. It was lots of fun, because this is where EVERYBODY brings their kids that are American--but trust me--lots of German kids come there too, in hopes to collect a large amount of American candy.

After a fun, chilly night out with friends, we made our way back to the house, put on pajamas and cuddled up on the couch. We were able to watch a couple of Halloween cartoons and then off to bed they went. No amount of sugar was going to bother them that night. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to answer the doorbell and to have all my nieces and nephews standing there!

I've attached a smilebox for you to view easily here. Enjoy!

Claudia's 1st day of German Kita!

Well, it's finally here! Claudia's long awaited first day of school! But it's no regular preschool--it's a German Kita or Kindergarten! Here in Germany, they don't call it preschool, they call it Kindergarten until they start in Year 1, when their formal education begins. In Year 1 is when they get their real schultutte(see above blog for description), but we couldn't let Claudia start her very first year of school without such a fun treat, especially since her big sister had one! It was of course on a much smaller level, but still just as fun for her to receive.

She is attending a school called The Tom Sawyer school (in the old American Sector). It is bilingual. She has a German speaking teacher and an English speaking teacher, so she hears both languages all day. Most of the children in her class speak German, with the exception of 1 or 2 that speak both. It is our hope that she gets a jump start on learning German now, so she can be more prepared in future German classes. And maybe she can even help teach me!

At school she not only gets to have breakfast, but lunch too. This is a Montessori based school, so they really feel like eating is such a big part of their social interaction. And now that I think about it--they are right! What do I do when I am visiting a friend? I usually go out to eat!

Aside from things she is doing in the classroom, she gets to take additional classes that other teachers volunteer to teach during free time. So our little Claudia is taking Pottery on Mondays and Music on Wednesdays! She loves these extra activities, especially since she's so used to hearing about all the fun stuff Paige gets to do at her school! She is finally able to do her own thing!

Outside of school, Claudia started taking swim lessons too. Next year when she attends the British School with Paige, it will be part of her curriculum there. But for now, her class is right next door to her school, which is super convenient and she has a great time too!

Claudia is getting a great start to her education, and we can't wait to see all the different German traditions she'll be introduced too along the way!

Paige's First Day of School--2008

The first day of school is always so exciting. But this...this was Year 1! In Germany it is an old tradition that when a child enters Year 1 they are given a Schuletutte to celebrate the beginning of their educational experience. A Schuletutte is a cone shaped, treat filled gift. It use to be only filled with sweets, but now it is a few sweets, school supplies and other fun things your child may be in to. Not only are the kids given these gifts, but they have all the parents, siblings, grandparents, neighbors etc. come to present it to the child. I didn't tell Paige about this event, so when we showed up for the big presentation of the Schuletutte, her face lit up with such excitement I will never forget it! At the close of the ceremony we all went outside to take pictures. There we had an opportunity to catch up on each others summers and meet the teacher who was new to BBS. There wasn't a whole lot for them to get use to, because these kids were in each others class last year. There are only two Year 1 classes and every year the class stays together when they move up. It was a lovely day that will always be special for Paige. Welcome to Year 1, Paige!

Here are a few pictures of our trip to Italy in September. We had the opportunity to take a little vacation alongside attending a wedding there. Craig's buddy Pete La Franchise met a wonderful little Italian girl, whose family is from Rome, but have a house in Alghero, Sardinia Italy. It was a lovely wedding. The people there were precious and loving. The weather was gorgeous, the beach was gorgeous--what can I say? It was GORGEOUS!! We stayed in an apartment we rented right on the beach where we could take the kids out everyday to play very easily. The beaches were clean and the water magnificent! The water was not only clear, but warm! We were told that it takes June and July to warm the water up, so August and September were the warmest times for the water--perfect! We were able to walk around the town, take a boat ride out to a cavern and just enjoy not having to run all over the place. It was a real vacation! I know that when we go to Rome and some of the other big cities we will want to run all over and see everything, but when your in a small, beautiful town like this with no pressures to see every museum and church for the sake of history--it was nice to just relax. Take a look at the beautiful scenery we were able to enjoy and you'll understand exactly what I mean!

Getting Older...

Bet you thought I was talking about myself, didn't you--but wrong, I was talking about my eldest daughter, Paige who turned "6" on the first of August--I after all have stopped having birthdays. Guess I should've titled it "Growng Up". I can't believe it sometimes, but then I'll look at her and she is definitely looking older and am proud to say acting a bit more mature as well. We no longer have to argue over hair and clothes--guess she finally figured out that it was pointless, because Mom always wins. But truly I'm seeing her really develop in such a nice way,so helpful and so loving.

Paige had a big year this past year--beginning Kindergarten in the US, then moving to Berlin and finishing up her school year in an outstanding school, where she did very well, and really enjoyed it. Now she is getting ready for Year 1. She's very excited about this year, knowing all of the kids in her class (as they stay together from the beginning here). Year 1 is a big deal in Germany. There is a big party on the first day of school for them and they are showered with all kinds of sweets and gifts. Every person you know is invited to come (Grandparents, neighbors, siblings, friends, etc.) I think it will be really fun for them, as most of them don't know about it--it's a big surprise!

After the school year starts then I am faced with birthday party, part II. On her actual birthday, I let Paige have her very first real sleepover with 3 other little girls(all American Embassy girls--their dads work with Craig) besides she and Claudia. They had a great time having all the junk food you could imagine(I had to make a special trip to the Embassy store to find that kind of stuff!) They did make-overs on each other, painted nails, did each others hair, danced to Hannah Montana, and finally made a fun palette in the floor to watch High School Musical on the projector, so it was like they were at the movies. They had a ball!!
All of her school chums were "on Holiday" in other countries--and I couldn't bear to let her special day go by without something so I told her we'd do one with our Embassy girls and another one with her school friends once the new year started. You can imagine there were no complaints from her!

For now, I'm enjoying having the girls at home with me before the whole school rat race starts again (Aug. 28th for Claudia and Sept. 1st for Paige). Both Claudia and Paige started tennis lessons this week and are going to take swimming lessons for the last couple of weeks before school starts. Between that and a few trips around in the city and maybe a weekend trip close by, we are going to end our summer with a bang! I'll update again soon and let everyone know all about the first days of school.

My Baby is "2"!!!

Well, we've officially made it to the terrible two phase for the third time--although I don't really remember it being so terrible with my other girls. I guess that is why Brooke is making up for it twofold! We started noticing her "outgoing" personality about 15 months, then she started walking and we'll let's just say the world wasn't quite ready for that. Now she is all over the place and as long as she is able to go and do what she wants and is eating a treat she's happy! So now when I leave the house, I make sure I stock up on some kind of cracker and beverage and hope it lasts long enough for me to get my errands taken care of.

Recently we had Vacation Bible School at our church. I was helping with snacks this year, so this was not only Claudia's first time, but Brooke's as well. The first day, she did pretty good, even made a little mask for a craft! The second day, not so much. She had to join me for T, W, and TH because she was a bit much for the sweet little high school girls to handle. She was so happy to be outside snacking away talking to every other child in VBS. It wasn't until Friday that my friend Peggy came through. Brooke starting throwing her typical fit with the girls, to get out of her class and come to me. My much wiser friend Peggy (has two older daughters, 8 & 10), went into the nursery for me. She simply knelt down and told her that she needed my help for a few minutes and that if she stayed in her class, that she would bring her a treat! No problem. Brooke stopped crying, went back and played and that was the end of that! Who says a little bribery never worked! After that we instructed the two young women that had been so sweet and patient with her to just keep feeding her--and it all worked out. And sure enough, Ms. Peggy handed her an ice pop at the end and now they are best friends! You would think I never feed her, but she's just a little snacker!

That brings me to her latest update--she weighs a whopping 25.2 pounds and is 34 inches tall.
She is such a ham! At her birthday party, we had to sing "Happy Birthday" to her at least 7 times! We would finish and she would start in singing again, looking at everyone, like why aren't you singing? She talks to everyone and isn't afraid of anything! A very busy little bee-much like her daddy! We are having so much fun watching her grow up. She loves to sing and dance. She knows every princess song, and is beginning to know some Hannah Montana and High School Musical songs as well. She's only 2 and poor thing is like--"Elmo Who?"
She loves playing Barbies with the big girls too, which is great. I love watching all of them play together. It reminds me so much of growing up with my two sisters.

He favorite thing though, is what we gave her for her birthday, a little kitten we named "Pearl". She absolutely loves her! I've had the best time watching her chase the cat (Pearl running for her life), picking her up and moving her place to place that Brooke thinks she ought to be, and throwing her over her shoulder, "cuddling" her. Very entertaining.

I have to say, she is a handful, but after two pretty easy kids, I guess I was asking for it. I think she was God's way of saying "Your Done". Truthfully, we do adore her and I think she's a GREAT one to end on. WE LOVE YOU BROOKE!!

We're still Here!

It' been a long time--I know, but we've been kind of busy. After much waiting we finally got into our house on May 15th. So after almost 4 months of temporary quarters, you can imagine we were happy to get all of our stuff back and very anxious to settle in. So between that and finishing up school activities with Paige we have stayed on the go. We did manage to squeeze a trip in over Mothers Day weekend to Garmish (about 5 hours south of Berlin). It was beautiful there. Everywhere you turned you were swallowed up by the beauty of The Alps. Gorgeous weather. We rode the "zugfarht" (gondola) up to the top and were able to look out over all of God's glorious creation. One word--MAGNIFICENT!!! The girls could not get over the fact that they were walking around in snow in their sandals. After that one would not think the kids could get excited about much else, but then we went to "The Cinderella Castle"--Neuswanstein Castle. Oh my goodness! They just knew they were looking at Cinderella's bed! We even took a horse and carriage ride to the top--delivered there just like Cinderella would have been. All the castles we've seen in Germany are beautiful and all worth a look, but the nostalgia that goes with taking my three little girls to this particular castle was well worth the drive! I have to say, even their daddy was all about it.
We saw Linderhof Palace as well on this trip, but after that we spent much of our time just letting our girls play in the streams along the mountains.
Among my favorite things of course was all the wonderful Bavarian food we had. I was really worried I would not be into the German food, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I've truly enjoyed it!
Each town, region, etc. has all different styles--so far I haven't had any bad experiences.
They also have different ways of dressing. In this particular area--it can be pretty touristy, so when I saw these little men going around in their feathered hats, Laderhosen with the socks pulled up to the knees-- just figured it was for show. But it wasn't! They truly dressed like that. Something straight out of "The Sound of Music"! The only thing I could think of was where can I get my dad one of those outfits! Can't you just see him in that?
The ladies wore the traditional attire as well, but it wasn't as eye catching as the men.
We were only there 4 days, but we did alot and really enjoyed it. I'll post a few pictures.

Claudia--a.k.a. Mulan turns 4!!!

Our daughter, Claudia just turned 4. She keeps us in stitches because quite frankly you never know what is going to come out of her mouth. First of all, just before we left the U.S. she decided each day when she got out of bed that she was a certain princess. Every morning she would come down stairs and before even saying Good Morning, she would announce what princess she was that day. It started out with Sleeping Beauty which you think, okay I can see that--very blonde hair, with her beautiful milky white skin. Then all of the sudden she was intrigued with all of the dark headed princesses. Typical girl, always wanting what we don't have. But then finally it stuck--Mulan was the one! She was so intrigued with how she was not only a princess, but was tough too! She would go into these big involved stories of exactly what she would do if she were to face a bad guy.

Then we arrive in Berlin... We go to Craig's office, and before I can introduce my sweet Claudia to his colleagues, she comes out with it--"I'm Mulan". Well, I don't think there has ever been a time we've stopped by Daddy's office, that she's been addressed as anything but "Mulan". I truly wonder if they even remember her real name.

Currently, "Mulan" is not in school, but we are really enjoying our time together, as I know it is our last year before the bell will be ringing for her. Things she loves to do, is read books with Mom, which she is actually starting to put the sounds together on some simple words to try and read like big sister Paige. She also LOVES to play on the computer! She can figure just about anything out--I can't get over it! And of course she loves to play with Barbies--which is why we had a Barbie birthday party for her this year. We had 4 little girls here besides my 3, plus parents, another family and one of the guys from Craig's office.

Claudia loved the attention! We played games, had pizza, cake and ice cream and opened presents. Everyone that came was so good to Claudia! As a matter of fact, my friend Laura, recognized my state of helplessness still being in temporary quarters. Everyone knows I really enjoy making my kids birthday cakes. It is something I take great pride in. It may not always be the best looking, but I feel all that matters is the love and time that I put into it. Maybe one day they will look back at pictures and say "wow, mom that sure was an ugly cake--but thanks for trying to make my day!" :) Anyway, the fact that all my bakeware is still in storage I graciously accepted her offer, knowing that she adores my daughter and would make it awesome! Which of course she did! Wait to go Laura!!!! By the way, after the big day, Claudia started calling her "Princess Laura". See Laura, it was worth all the work! What a fun day!

We are trying to get Claudia into an activity, but haven't found the right place for her yet. She's at the very in between stage of not being young enough for a toddler play gym, but not being old enough for soccer, swimming, etc. (here they don't start these activities until age 5).

One place that she is involved and loves it is church. She is the youngest kid in her Sunday school class. We attend a very small church so the kids are grouped from age 5-8. She's allowed because they have seen her willingness to sit and listen and invited her in. Today she came out and told me that she prayed twice in Sunday School because none of the other kids wanted to. I loved that! She's bold and she's only 4! Following Sunday School this evening, they had AWANA, which is a super fun time of fellowship, games, learning bible verses, and having lessons. I had 3 teachers search me out to tell me a Claudia story. The first one was telling me how good she was and how well she was doing. The second one told me "She had a chocolate cookie, but don't worry, there is none on her hands, because we played duck, duck goose and now it's in everyone's hair!" Okay, funny, cute.... then the third one finds me and says "I may never be able to look at your husband again--your daughter was drawing a picture of your family and she drew Daddy naked, because he was getting out of the shower"! Who knows what kind of story followed that--trust me, I didn't bother to ask! As you can see, our little Claudia is a humorous one. She always keeps us guessing! All that aside, she is the sweetest, most loving, adorable, kind hearted little "princess" girl you have ever seen. Of course, that's my opinion! I'm her mother!

Frohe Ostern! (Happy Easter!)

Well, Easter here wasn't quite the same, but it is a very big deal here. First of all, most of the schools close down for at least 2 weeks, some even 3. All businesses (with the exception of a few restaurants and gas stations) close down not only Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but they also are closed on what they call Easter Monday. One can imagine the craziness at the markets and stores on Saturday in between. Many people choose to go out of town, on trips because there is really nothing to do except spend time with family. This of course made me really miss our families. Luckily we were able to spend some time with friends and then really relax and enjoy each other especially on Easter Sunday.

The girls were able to participate in a few egg hunts, the first of which was with all the kids from the Embassy. It was great fun for them to see lots of friends, and do a couple of games and crafts.

Easter Sunday brought many surprises and fun. First of all the visit from the Easter Bunny was very exciting, because they were a bit worried that he might not come to Germany. After all the excitement of checking out their treats, Daddy Craig informed them that on his way to take out the garbage he had noticed an egg outside that looked like one of the ones we had colored! He must have hidden our eggs! With much enthusiasm, they were off on another egg hunt. Later in the afternoon, we made our way to church (which meets at 2:30pm). I wish I could say we were in our beautiful Easter clothes, but it is STILL way to cold! It was a lovely service and afterward we stayed for a potluck dinner in the fellowship hall. Most of the church families are American, and are therefore away from home just as we are. Nice to have other people to lean on in times like this--very comforting! Of course the kids couldn't leave without going on one more Easter egg hunt--which in all actuality was a candy hunt. They had a ball! The only problem, is that everytime Brooke found a piece, she thought that meant that she could eat it. Needless to say, we had to cut her hunt a little short. We don't want to break her spirit! The rest of the evening we spent playing games and enjoying each other, making our calls back home to wish everyone well and with no stress about getting anyone in bed at a certain time because there was no work or school the next day. Overall a very peaceful holiday which is exactly the way Easter should be. Things we missed about being in the states at Easter: family, ham, family, mashed potatoes and gravy, family, pie, family, our mom's cooking, family, our aunts cooking, family, Grandma D's cooking....you see where I'm going with this.

Truly we did miss being with our family on such an important holiday, but we ourselves have been so blessed and are so thankful for our health and for having such wonderful families supporting this decision to be here. We love you guys!

Tea anyone?

My little Paige is a big girl now at the Berlin British School! And as you can see she has to wear a uniform. We love it! Paige gets to wear a skirt everyday and I don't have to argue with her about what to wear! Everybody wins! There are 12 children in her class from several different places (Scotland, Russia, England and of course Germany and one other American). Her teacher Miss Shield is British as are most of the teachers, with the exception of her German teacher who is of course German. She has a packed schedule every week. Each day besides the normal everyday lessons of Literacy and Numeracy, she has additional activities. Mondays she has swimming which takes place at the Olympic Stadium. How incredible it was to go to the open swim class recently and watch my daughter swimming laps in the Olympic Pool! She is doing fantastic! And as many of you know, Paige loves to swim; therefore she is having a ball! On Tuesdays she has PE--loves it as well, Wednesday--music, Thursday--art, Friday--open play time. She has German twice a week, now--next year it will be 3 times a week. Something else they do there is really encourage them to join a club. The clubs take place either during lunch or directly after school. These clubs vary from drama, to painting, arts and crafts, ballet, music, games and construction, stories and rhymes, etc. Then the older they get, there is soccer, language clubs, even homework clubs. I think it's really great! On top of all of that--they offer music lessons to be taught at the school either during lunch or after school as well! I think this is so nice. We haven't begun any steps in that direction just yet, but when we do, it will be nice to pick up Paige from school and not have to run her somewhere else for another activity. They really put a positive outlook on family time with all of this. They spend so much time away from home that once they are finished at school, they are able to simply come home for the evening.
Needless to say, we are very happy with the school and Paige's progress there. She is reading wonderfully. She is very proud of herself as is her teacher and of course the Mommy and Daddy. :) The teachers here are so attentive in every part of there day. Not only are they teaching the normal school curriculum, but they work on their manners at lunch as well! The teacher even asked me one day if I would be able to get the girls home in time for tea. Huh? Most of you know that I am all about taking tea, but to take the time to do that every afternoon is unfathomable. I can't see Brooke allowing that at all! I have to say that if there were any customs I would like to adopt from the British school, that would be it! Speaking of adopting British culture--it will be entertaining to see my girls probably end up with a British accent. Wonder if there is such a thing as Southern British?
Paige is also riding the bus now, something I was very hesitant about until I saw it. It is a very small (15 passenger) bus, with individual seats with seat belts. There is a very sweet little girl, age 10 that rides with Paige to and from and really takes care of her. Paige loves the bus! I knew she would, it was me that had a hard time with it. Now that I've seen the whole set up and know the children on the bus, we are all good to go! Well, I guess that about wraps up the update for Paige. The rest of us are still doing well. Still no house, but we are doing just fine here in temporary quarters. I'll update again after Easter!

Guten Tag from Berlin!

Hello everyone!

Email FINALLY!! I hope this finds you all well. We are doing wonderfully here. We just got our email up and running so now I can give you the update. We have been here nearly a month--hard to believe! The first week was really slow, but then we met a few people and were able to get out and about and it is flying by! We are still in temporary quarters, awaiting the call from the Embassy Housing board that they have found us a house. But truthfully, we are quite happy here! Craig works just a few blocks from home so he is actually home around 6 pm most nights. It's so nice to have him around more--especially at dinner time! Most things are convenient to this location and it's fairly roomy. So all in all we are happy with what we've got.

Things sure are different here--almost like they are behind about 50 years. When you enter this quaint little town down the street one of the first stores you see is a Woolworth's?! There is a small market and bakery on about every corner. The difficult thing about the shopping is that if you want to buy a tube of toothpaste, you can't buy it at the grocery store, you have to go to a pharmacy. If you want to buy a card, you go to the papery, make-up--to a parfumerie and on and on. The most frustrating thing of all is that hardly any places take credit/debit cards! You always have to be prepared with cash (euros)--even at the grocery store! How hard is that! I feel like saying "come on people, get with the times!" So the next time you are dreading that trip to a Super Target and your paying with a debit card--just think of poor me dragging 3 kids to about 15 different places, trying to make sure I don't have to make a 16th stop at the ATM again!

Besides that truly it is a wonderful place. It's very beautiful here. Even being right next to the city there are a number of forests around that one can drive through, ride their bike on bike paths, go for walks through--very lovely. Which brings me to another difference. On Sunday everything but a few restaurants is closed. It's kind of nice because it really promotes family time, not to mention our day of rest. The German tradition is to go for a Sunday walk. It's wonderful to see people out just enjoying each other, in no hurry to get anywhere. It's a big family day.

We are missing our families of course and friends too, but I have to say the people that we've met here so far have been fabulous! Everyone is so helpful, always ready to take you to a grocery store to help the new girl that still doesn't know enough German to get by or to invite you over for a playdate. If I have a question, I already have a handful of women I could call up for an answer, and if they don't know it they will either find out or put me in touch with someone who will. It's a great network of people here. That's how I found Paige's school.

Paige started school just today, at The Berlin British School. I know, doesn't sound very German, huh? Well, the British School is a worldwide school that is home to many different children from many different countries. It is a private school, so she has to wear a uniform which she was completely fine with because she gets to wear a skirt everyday! She will be getting and excellent education there. Every week, besides literacy and numeracy (as they call it) she will be participating in a German language class 3 times a week, then she will have music, art, computer, P.E. and swimming. It is a full day for her attending from 8:30-3:00. The really neat thing is that their swimming class is taught at the Olympic Stadium which is just up the hill from the school (they ride a bus there and back). As I said, today was her first day and she absolutely loved it! We are so thrilled it has worked out so well.

As for the rest of my crew, everyone is adapting well. Craig loves his job and is certainly challenged everyday to better his German as he is working with the German police. Claudia is enjoying all the new friends she is making and is getting anxious for her chance to start school. She is also constantly talking about her upcoming birthday party and what kind of party it will be, who to invite, etc. Brooke continues to be our "little rascal". Everyday she is coming up with something new. She's really into her baby doll right now, always wanting to feed her, change her and take her everywhere. She and baby have their own conversations while strolling around home and getting into the big girl stuff.

I know there are other things that I'm forgetting, but we'll be in touch more now that we are able. Email us when you can to either account (gmail--above, or my hotmail). We are interested in what's going on with you too! We just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we are here, we are happy and we are blessed with a wonderful life and friends and family like you!

All our love,
